FPASA Environmental Policy
The Fire Protection Association of Southern Africa (FPASA) is committed to managing the environmental impacts associated with its premises, live-fire training, technical services, travel and other activities.
FPASA is committed to:
- complying with applicable environmental legislation, municipal by-laws and other environmental requirements;
- identifying and managing environmental risks and impacts associated with its activities and services;
- preventing pollution and responding appropriately to environmental incidents;
- managing fuels, hazardous materials, wastewater, runoff and waste responsibly;
- using water, energy and other resources responsibly;
- promoting waste reduction, reuse and recycling where reasonably practicable;
- using appropriately authorised, competent or licensed environmental service providers where required;
- providing appropriate environmental awareness to employees and relevant contractors;
- monitoring environmental controls and addressing identified deficiencies; and
- continually improving its environmental practices and performance.
FPASA’s operational environmental controls are implemented through its Quality Management System and include controls relating to live-fire training, fuel use, wastewater and runoff, waste disposal, contractor management and incident reporting.
All employees, contractors and service providers are expected to comply with the environmental requirements relevant to their work and to report any spill, leak, pollution incident or environmental concern promptly.
This policy supports FPASA’s Safety, Health, Environment and Quality commitments and shall be reviewed at least annually and when significant operational, legal or environmental changes occur.
